For this week's blog I've added some pictures of our training session. We always start every session foam rolling, I don't know the ins and outs of foam rolling, I just know that if I don't do it for long enough, I get shouted at, and I would ache the next day. Foam rolling, stretches, warming up and cooling down are all important parts that we spend time on during our PT sessions. I always complain that the stretching at the end is the worst part, but it’s a great feeling to know that even though I can tell that my body has been put through its paces, I can also walk the next day and not be in agony. I have done sessions previously where I haven't even been able to walk down the stairs afterwards, but I have never stretched properly, and before attending L1, I had never even used a foam roller.
As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, we spend a lot of time working on my form and technique. Sometimes I will have to do a few sets with just my bodyweight, to ensure that I'm doing it right, before adding any extra weight. I have mastered my form and technique over the past nine weeks, and I have also built up a lot of strength. I couldn't even do one press up when I started, and it has taken me a long time and a lot of persistence to be able to do it, it was just something I really struggled with. The first time we used a straight bar to deadlift I just couldn't get my head around that either, I had to try and try again until I finally mastered it. It's great for me to be able to have the confidence and support to try new things in the gym, as I found it really daunting before I joined L1.
I lost weight again this week on the scales, and most of my measurements went down. I am only two days into meal preps, so I am excited to jump on the scales next week and see what a difference they have made. This weekend I am going to Blackpool for my Grandma's birthday, it is going to take lots of will power to trade fish and chips for chicken and rice, but the end is in sight and I am so proud of all the social events, cakes and meals I have turned down to get to where I am now.
